Belgian Kim Clijsters picked up the spot light by defeating the Top seed Caroline Wozniacki in the three set victory to clinch the title of WTA championship on Sunday for the third time. However who has already bagged the trophy back in 2002 and 2005, picked up nearly $1.5 million as the prize money for winning the championship. Clijsters wrapped up the match with a 6-3 5-7 6-3 victory against the No:1 seed Wozniacki in a match which went out for nearly 2 hours and 20 minute of play.
Soon after the match Clijster made her appearance for a short interview and said that “It was really a great match and which I could never forget with great shots, great tennis and great fitness. I am feeling much happy that I have won the match giving my best and it would be really disappointing for the World No:1 but however I don’t know exactly how for I could keep up with the rhythm and fitness.
Making her first presence soon after clinching the US Open this year and undergoing a operation in her foot, Clijster showed some scintillating performance throughout the tournament beating up all the rival to win the match comfortably.
Leading the final set by 3-2 clijster headed comfortably soon after the previous set domination by the Wozniacki, she lost the rhythm she showed in the previous set letting way for Clijster to win the title for 3rd time. The prestigious tournament is heading towards Istanbul for upcoming years and it has been said that the tournament will last there till 2013.
